Having a healthy body image and self-confidence is infectious! Scott Mills’ Blog Week 15

I’ve reached a point where going to U.P. is part of my life, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I’m trying to fit in four workouts a week at U.P. which is hard because my work hours move around so much and no two days are the same.

Sean and James, my U.P. trainers, have been very accommodating and understanding that I don’t work a normal 9-5 job.

For the first time since I was in my early 20s, I feel at ease and accept how I look. I’m leaner and definitely stronger than I’ve ever been.

Also, they keep on pushing me at U.P.

For instance, during my training session the other day, Sean told me after I’d done a set that it was the heaviest I had ever lifted! It’s so encouraging to hear this as I’ve always been someone who has never particularly liked exercise, or thought I was any good at it.

My self-confidence has never been high, but the comments I’m getting (which are all the time now) really make it all worth it.

Now, every time I put a photo on Instagram of my training progress, I get people saying I’m looking leaner than ever, which is great.

But it’s not just about that, it makes me feel better not just about my body, but my job and my relationship too – everything!

It’s also made me realise how capable my body really is. I’m doing things that I somehow convinced myself I just wouldn’t be able to do.

I feel that I’ve even changed the way I carry myself. I feel I walk with more confidence, and even at work, I feel I’m sitting up a little straighter.

I’ve also noticed I don’t get food envy anymore. Often at Radio 1, my team will order pizzas or burgers for lunch, especially on a Friday, but for some reason, it doesn’t bother me now.

Yesterday, I went past a delicious-smelling pancake stall, and normally I would have smelt that and then bought one!

But anything that would disrupt my progress at this stage isn’t worth it. I spend so much of my life at U.P. that eating something which would take less than five minutes isn’t worth all the work I’m putting in.

Also, I would say to anyone who is thinking about signing up for U.P., even if you have a very busy lifestyle – you DO have time.

I always made excuses that I didn’t, but you’ll find it. It’s a big commitment, but these guys are world class.

Healthy body image is infectious, and once you’ve got the bug you won’t want to stop.

I always worried about how I felt and looked, and that is time you can’t get back. These guys will completely change your mindset. No matter what age or size you are.
