Why would you even need a personal trainer?
Before coming to Ultimate Performance, I wondered the same thing.
Don’t get me wrong, I knew they knew their stuff, but how much of a difference does that really make? I’d always been under the impression that it wasn’t worth paying the money to get someone to take me through the motions and count my reps, cause that’s what a personal trainer is for, right?
What is it about an UP personal trainer that is worth investing in? First of all, I’ll tell you where the thought of writing this blog came from.
The more I post about my time at UP, the more I am asked for training and diet advice and on the odd occasion, I’ll even be told ‘you should be a personal trainer’. This is exactly the problem when it comes to the personal training industry.
There are many people out there who have gotten themselves in shape and then decided they are qualified enough to help others.
My answer whenever I am asked those questions is always the same – “I am no expert”.
I am lucky enough to be surrounded by the world’s leading personal trainers at UP. They’re from all over the world and each and every one of these trainers has been cherry-picked because they’re the cream of the crop.

These trainers have taught me how to train, they have taught me how to take care of myself and they continue to do this. Just by being around them I can continue to learn how to keep progressing. Now, the great thing about that is that I can go to another gym and train myself, I can go away and make the right food choices for myself and for my goals…but I couldn’t do that for you and neither can many so-called ‘PTs’ that are out there.
I couldn’t help a 40-year-old mother with previous back injuries get into the best shape of her life.
I couldn’t build the strength of an already well-built rugby player.
I couldn’t help someone lose 30kg in just 16 weeks who’s been battling with their weight for the last 10 years.
I couldn’t answer every question you have about diet – what you should and shouldn’t eat to help you achieve your dream body.

What makes a UP trainer different is that they don’t leave anything to chance, they will never guess what might work for you.
Everything – and I mean everything – they do is to get the absolute best out of you.
Your time is never wasted, no question is left unanswered and when you need someone to get your ass to the gym, they are there.
They are there when your body hurts and you don’t know how to handle it. They are there to not just count your reps, but to make sure that every single rep counts. They are there when you no longer want to carry on, to remind you of why you started.
We all start off ‘getting back on it’ with a goal, but how many of you follow it through? It’s a huge slog and it doesn’t matter how much you try, if you’re not doing the right thing for your body, eating the right food, being disciplined enough or consistent enough, you can keep going for years and still see no difference.
